The Small Fox Epidemic

Thousands have died in the small pox epedemic in the past years until the vacinnation was finally discovered by Dr. Edward Jenner. The disease is now almost eradicated. But there remains a similar disease in the church that is eradicating many souls. I call this the SMALL FOX EPIDEMIC.

  Songs of Solomon 2:15 – “Catch the foxes for us,
  The small foxes that are spoiling the vine”

In Solomon’s day the keepers of the Vineyard used to build a fence around their vineyard and post caretakers to tend and protect the vine. The keepers of the vine used to watch out for the theif and the big animals, but seldom did they notice the fox that is about 2 feet tall. This small dog like animal creeps under the fence or between the fence and spoils the vine.

Sometimes we focus on the big sins and we hardly notice or pay any attention to the small sins. How far is heaven from hell?The answer may shock you, its just one degree. If you take a degree deviation from the truth and keep going on that road for some time you will end up in a different destination.

God doesn’t keep a file system

In God’s eyes all sins are equally bad. There is no file system in heaven that classifies sin as big sins and small sins.All sin seperates us from God.

You maynot have murdered anyone but have you gotten angry and revengueful…
You maynot have committed adultery but have you looked at a women and lusted for her…

Small foxes like spreading rumours, murmuring and complaining, unthankful heart, self pity, unforgiveness, lust etc are hidden sins of the heart. These may not be the pink elephant in the room and it will likely kill us in the end.

The small compromises

The devil loves small compromises. He will patiently work with you for years if you can compromises a little bit each time.

Someone said if you put a live frog in hot water it will jump out and try to escape but if you take the same frog and place it in regular water and increase its temperature one degree at a time gradually eventually the frog will be boiled alive.

The small distraction

A man got a hamburger with some ketchup from a drive through restuarant. He was trying to eat his burger while driving.
He noticed that one drop of ketchup had fallen on his pants. He took his eyes of the road and tried to clean the ketchup.
Unfortunately he had an head on collision with an eighteen wheeler truck and was killed. A small distraction but it was a fatal distraction.

A small leak in the ship can eventually sink even the Titanic. Greater men have fallen prey to this disease.

Lets not justify or rationalise. Lets not find excuses or hide our sins. Lets not avoid or ignore our small sins.Lets not compare or compromise.                                          

But let’s repent and get vacinnated by the blood of Jesus and the word of God that can only keep us from sin and empower us against the small fox epedemic.
