The ‘GO’

MATT 28:19 – Go ye into all the nation and preach the gospel….. The Last Command Any soldier in the Army will tell you that you always have to obey the last command given by your commander unless instructed otherwise. If your commander told you to dig a ditch, you better be digging that ditch when he gets back. He never told you to stop after 6 feet. He never told you that you could quit if you are tired. He just told you “dig that ditch”. YOU ALWAYS OBEY THE LAST COMMAND OF YOUR COMMANDER, UNLESS INSTRUCTED OTHERWISE. The Last command that was given to the church was “GO” . Jesus said “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creature”. Which we call the great Commission . What is the great Commission? The great commission is simply – “The Whole Church with the Whole Gospel to the Whole World” That includes everyone to Janitor to the Pastor, the housewife to the CEO. Men, Women, Children…Every believer has this charge. This is not a great commission for the clerical collar alone. Hijacking the “Go” from the Gospel Somehow the church has lost its mission. It has become a “bless me” club. We have settled down in a comfort zone. The flames of fire for Missions have dwindled down. Someone or something has hijacked the “Go” from the Gospel. We have beaten and bruised the “GOSPEL” and robbed its riches and left it unrecognizably bleeding to death on the sidewalk. God needs some “Good Samaritan prophets” who will rescue the Gospel from the self-help Gurus, Philoshopers and false humanistic teachings. Without the “Go” the Gospel is nothing but a “SPELL”. And the word “SPELL” means talk. Many can Talk the Walk but only a few are Walking the Talk. 5 reasons why the Church has lost the FIRE FOR MISSIONS

1. Lack of the FEAR of God.
   It’s not the Fear of Man or persecution or fear of failure that is keeping us from missions. It’s a deficiency of the Fear of God in our lives.

         John Wesley said,  “I fear God too much to fear man”

2. Apathy.
   Apathy is state of cold heartedness where we don’t care or choose to ignore the need of others and envelop ourselves in limited world that involves three words – “I”, “Me”, and “Mine”CHOSEN and FROZEN might be two apt words that describe the modern church.
3. Unbelief.
   I am not truly convinced we truly believe in a literal HELL and that it is the eternal fate of those that don’t know Jesus as their savior.

   The Most challenging quote on Missions I have ever heard is from one of the greatest soul winner I have ever read – William Booth the founder of Salvation Army.

    “Not called!’ did you say? ‘Not heard the call,’ I think you should say. Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear Him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help.  Go stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father’s house and bid their brothers and sisters and servants and masters not to come there.  Then look Christ in the face — whose mercy you have professed to obey — and tell Him whether you will join heart and soul and body and circumstances in the march to publish His mercy to the world.“  – William Booth.
   
   Each time I read this a new fire is kindled in me. This man really understood the “Go” of the Gospel.  

        If we truly believe the Word then we cannot sit on our hands anymore or else we will be guilty of the SIN OF SILENCE. 4. “Big Splash” syndrome.

Mother Theresa said, “If you cannot make a wave, then make a ripple”.What is my $5.00 going to do? What is my contribution to this Sunday school going to do for global evangelism?

      We are waiting for a big splash. We are waiting for that big citywide crusade.

God can build his church with the widows two mites if he has to.  Be faithful in the little and believe that your little matters much.Mother Theresa said, “ God has not called you to do great things but little things with great love”.

    5.  Humanistic teachings and selective hearing problem. Finally humanistic teachings and selective hearing problem are plaguing the church. I will just leave it there.

Conclusion

God will not allow any excuses for disobeying the Great commission. Go Ye means Go Me.YOU can “GO”   – if that can’t happen. YOUR Money can “GO” – if that can’t happen. YOUR Prayer can “GO” - Now that must happen.May God put back the The “Go” back into the Gospel.And remember 2/3rd of word God is “Go” too. I clearly do not intent to live my whole life with 1/3rd revelation of God’s goodness.
